The bus transportation and reservation system in Denali National Park and Preserve are operated and managed by Doyon/Armark Joint Venture, as an authorized concessionaire of the National Park Service.

Shuttle Buses:  The shuttle bus system (green buses) are designed to provide access to visitors wishing to view remote areas of the park, access a campground or deboard and go for a hike.  Shuttle buses provide access to Toklat (6 hours roundtrip), Fish Creek Visitor Center (8 hour roundtrip), and Wonder Lake (11 hour roundtrip).

Trips on the shuttle bus are informal.  The drivers will assist you in spotting wildlife along the road and provide informal interpretation to help answer questions.  Rest stops along the park road are spaced at approximately one-hour intervals.  It is important to remember to bring along beverages and food, as none will be available once your trip begins.

Approximately 65% of the seats for the shuttle bus system are available by advance reservations on starting in December.  The remaining tickets are available by advance reservation two days before the travel date.  Only eight tickets may be purchased with each phone call or faxed reservation.

Fax and mail-in service begins in December.  Fax forms are available on the NPS website.  www.nps.gov/dena   When faxing or mailing reservation requests, please remember to include the names and ages of each passenger.  It is helpful to include alternative dates and times for your trip (in case your first choice is booked).  Credit card numbers, along with expiration dates, must  be included with a fax request.  Either a credit card number or check can be included with mail-in reservation request.

The reservation phone lines open on February 15.  Tickets may be obtained by phoning 800 622 7275 from anywhere in the US or 907 272 7275 locally in Anchorage or outside the US.  Tickets can be purchased by phone up until the day before your bus trip.  Reservation requests can also be faxed to 907 264 4684 or mailed to Doyon/Aramark address.

Tickets are also available, by walk-in, at the Denali National Park visitor center beginning two days before the travel date.  In order to receive a refund, cancellations, must  be made at least 2 hours prior to the bus departure.

When planning your bus tours please remember that all tours take the same road in and out of the park.  The difference is the distance you go.  This applies to all tours private or park shuttles.

The most popular tour is the Fish Creek 8 hour tour.   You will most likely see most of the animals that the park has to offer and the beauty of the surrounding wilderness.   Naturally the choice is yours.

Shuttle System Specifics

In order to make the best use of  the system, visitors should be aware of the following points:
· Reservations are required for all westbound boardings except as noted below.
· Passengers may get off along the park road and re-board later bussed (west of mile 20) on a space-available basis with a ticket valid for that day.
· Visitors may board eastbound on a space available basis.  Please keep your ticket stub for the driver’s  inspection.
· Expect to one hour wait before re-boarding buses along the park road.
· The Teklanika pass is for campers staying at the Teklanika campground only.  It is good for confirmed space on the first complete day of the visitor’s stay, and space available thereafter.
